On November 8, 2025, Lodie Kenyi delivered one of the greatest single-game performances in Canadian university basketball history. The senior guard erupted for 58 points on 21-of-29 shooting, leading the Regina Cougars to a decisive win over Lethbridge.
The performance shattered the previous Cougars single-game scoring record and stands as the highest point total in U SPORTS since 1964. It now ranks as the fifth-most points ever scored in a U SPORTS game.
Coming into the matchup, Kenyi had shown flashes of elite scoring ability throughout the season — but this was different. From the opening tip, he played with purpose. “ I can’t lie, going into the game. I was so locked in because the night before I underperformed. I finished with 8 points, and we lost to a team that we should have beat, so I felt like the [loss] was on me. So the next game, I came in with a vengeance.”
Kenyi’s efficiency was just as impressive as the raw total. He shot 72% from the field, knocked down threes, finished through contact, and controlled the tempo throughout. More than just a scoring outburst, it was a complete performance from a player who has quietly built one of the most consistent careers in Canada West.
Now sitting second in Canada West scoring as a senior, Kenyi reflected on what a night like this represents at this stage of his career. “I feel like all the work I put in over the years is starting to show. It means a lot to me. I know all the work I put in isn’t for nothing.”
However, Lodie stated that he wasn’t going to let the big performance get to his head. He still has one goal in mind.
“At the same time, I don’t want [the game] to affect me too much. I still wanna stay focused on the season and not be too high on this game. We’ve got a goal to achieve as a team. Yes it felt good going off, but I am locked in on the next game.”
As the Cougars continue their push through the season, Kenyi’s name is now etched into the national record books — not just as a top scorer, but as part of U SPORTS history.
