We had the pleasure to chat with 2024-2025, USPORTS All Canadian and Former AUS MVP, DJ Jackson. DJ Currently sits in third in the entire nation in scoring (23.1 PPG)
After playing at Montverde Academy in Florida, Jackson began his college career at IUPUI, an NCAA Division I school. From there, he made the move to St. Francis Xavier University (STFX), where he’s now in his second season and dominating.
“Basketball’s been all over the place,” Jackson says. “But it’s been a good journey.”
This past summer, he also played in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) with the Calgary Surge, gaining valuable experience around pro level players.
“They show up early, get up extra shots, stay locked in,” he says. “Being around that every day just raised my standards.”
Jackson brings that mindset into every part of his game. Whether it’s film, extra reps, or conversations with coaches, his approach is all about constant growth.
“The work never stops,” he says. “Im in the gym every day, watching film, talking with my head coach, just doing whatever I can to be better.”
That work has helped build more than just his individual stats. STFX is in a strong position this season, and Jackson believes the group has what it takes.
“We’ve got the chemistry, we’ve got the pieces. The goal this year is simple — win the AUS and go win a national championship,” he says.
And personally?
“I want that national player of the year,” he says. “That would mean a lot to me. All the work I’ve put in, I want to see it pay off.”
Jackson credits his parents and sister for being steady influences in his life, especially early on when decisions had to be made about his path.
As for young players looking up to his journey, Jackson keeps it simple.
“Keep God first, stay consistent, and don’t take days off,” he says. “Even when you’re tired, there’s always something you can do. Watch film, shoot free throws, do something. Never stop.”
We are Looking forward to witnessing greatness as the season progresses.
